Adaaba Happy New Year

Let’s call 2024 the year of understanding. Understanding what?, you may ask. Understanding yourself as an individual and as a woman. Throughout 2024 Adaaba has focused on producing and creating content that would help women in this year of understanding.

We started this year off with New Year resolutions/goals and discussing The True Motivation for Personal Change, Beyond Resolutions, in our discussion we made sure to focus on the WHY for the changes and to think more about the person you are now and what you can do to understand and value that woman.

In this year of understanding, we learned two essential lessons and that was how to Step Away From The Title And Feed The Seed of Joy Within and Ways To Stay Motivated When Going Against The Grain. For me, when I officially stepped away from my titles my mind gained clarity and my physical health flourished. It was one of the ways I was able to stay motivated.

My 2024 goal/resolution was to better understand my body and mind in order to best care for it.

Through therapy, I got better at understanding my mind. I learned different exercises that helped me live in and experience the moment. Ultimately, I learned that having anxiety doesn’t mean I’m forced to be crippled by the what-ifs of the future.

Understanding my body meant really embracing womanhood. We did that by getting to know What do Pap smears detect, and what do my results mean? As a woman with PCOS, after every gynecologist appointment I would impatiently wait for an email notification delivering my test results. Understanding your body plays a crucial role in researching what can be and should be done.

I've realized that I'm constantly wanting to change things about myself that are simply part of who I am. As if I need to change. So, I look forward to this new journey—the journey to acceptance—where I can fully embrace the things I cannot change, cherish the parts of me I was taught to dislike, and fall in love with this newer version of myself.

With 2024 being the year of knowing and understanding, let 2025 be the year of acceptance. Accepting yourself means learning to love and appreciate everything about you. That's where true change and transformation begin.
